Air conditioners are a necessity in many areas. Although people in warmer regions install central air conditioning systems, those in more moderate regions only need occasional air conditioning. Window air conditioner units cost less than central air systems and effectively cool smaller areas.

Preparing to Shop for Window Air Conditioner Units

Determine the square footage of the room to determine what size air conditioner units to look at. Place a tape measure at one end of the room and stretch it across the room to measure the room’s width in feet. Repeat the process to measure the room’s length in feet. Multiply the two numbers to arrive at the total square footage of the room. Also measure the dimensions of the window where the AC unit will be installed before going shopping.
